Fun Weekends!

The past two weekend have been fun and busy!  Terry had a trip to the coast planned and the same weekend Cason and I had a visit from the Striplings. They were headed to San Antonio but stopped to play with us. Poor Wes was on his own with Erin, me, and 3 kiddos.

Terry with his fish.

We went to the splash park and pool on Saturday. Cason is finally getting used to the water and actually liking it. He doesn't get very far from me though. Here he is taking a water break.

He likes to drink out of real cups and water bottles now. He takes sips and says "mmmmm".

I didn't get too many pictures of all 3 kids. Most if the time it was a mad house, but in a good way!

Jake was so good with Cason. He even read him some of his books.

Sunday we went to the Austin children's museum and saw the bats downtown. Cason spent most if his time on a slide.
with a ramp a a red bubble he loved.

Finally...the bats. I've never seen it but there's a lot of hype. Still not sure I get it. Cason and Kaelyn weren't that interested either.

Last weekend Erin and I went to see New Kids on the Block. Boys 2 Men were there along with 98 degrees. Could have done without 98 degrees but the rest of the concert was awesome. Erin and I sort if dressed up but not like some people. Yes- we wore matching shirts!

It was a short trip to Dallas but Grammy and Grandaddy watched Cason and he got some good times in.  Grammy had eye surgery so it's dark but they were reading lots of books on the soda.

And Cason got in some swinging and wagon time with Grandaddy. He saw his cousins right before we left but no pictures. I don't think they were ever still enough.

Yes and No

Cason has learned so many things in the last few months. It is sometimes amazing to see him figure things out. He started shaking his head no a while ago and this past week started nodding yes. He is really good with the "no" part!  We ask him lots of questions and he gets them right about 50% of the time. :)

He has become a master at hiding things. You have to watch him closely or you will be missing something and its in the trash. He is constantly putting things in something and taking them out.

He also has some other less than desirable habits.  This is one if them...cracks me up every time I look at this!

Cason is all boy, all the time. He loves to play, throw, and unfortunately bite. He really bites when he is tired. We gave tried all kinds of ideas to get him to stop but so far I still have bite marks.

He throws everything. And everything is an "uh oh". He has also started really climbing and he will climb in your lap and then throw himself backwards so you can flip him. He has no fear!  Grandma D got him a slide so he could climb. We moved it inside so we didn't pass out from heat exhaustion.

He loves to clap for himself. He was very proud!

First Haircut

Cason had his first haircut this weekend. He was so good! No crying, fussing, or really any reaction at all. He was kind if tired and I thought he was just going to fall asleep. He gets that from his Daddy!

The kid next to him was throwing a fit. Cason just kept staring at him trying to figure out what his problem was. :)

Mommy and Cason's weekend

Last weekend Terry had a fishing tournament and Cason and I were on our own Friday night. We had a dinner date and went to the park. He loves swinging! He isn't quite big enough for anything else but we go down the slide together and he's pretty happy with that and walking around.

On Saturday Cason and I met up with Terry at the lake for the weigh in and we were supposed to camp with him Saturday night. I am not the biggest fan of real camping. RVs are fine but I have a thing about the campground bathrooms. Terry convinced me that these were clean and he rented a tent camper-just to clarify I don't count tent campers as RVs.

The weekend started off a little rough with an upset tummy and ear infection for Cason. He seemed in good spirits and his tummy was better though so I decided to pack up some stuff and head to the lake. Terry was in a good mood because he and his partner placed and got a check. Somewhere there is a picture of Terry and Cason getting the check together. Cason was so cute and he loved looking at the fish in the tank.  Cason had a great time playing in the sand but when we got back to the camper I think he decided it was not for him. In the end Cason and I ended up driving back to the house and leaving Terry in his tent camper. We were probably all better off. Cason slept the whole way home and all night and I didn't have to use campground bathrooms! :)

The amount of drool this guy produces is amazing.  I think he has a new tooth on the bottom finally starting to come through.  That is sand on his face and arms.  He kept digging his toes in the sand and was a complete mess by the time he was done playing.  He loved it though and it kept him in a good mood.  He wasn't ready to leave.  The spot on his forehead is a bruise.  He isn't totally steady on his feet and hasn't quite figured out how to balance all the time.

First Birthday! - Part 2

Cason is one year old!  It is a little hard to write that.  I don't even know how to begin to describe everything about this silly boy.  He is definitely a happy boy and loved more than you can imagine.
A few things about our Cason at 1 year:
  • He really started walking 3 days after his first birthday.  My mom, Terry, and I all witnessed the first big steps.  I think we freaked him out a little bit we were so excited.
  • He still has 8 teeth but the past few weeks has been drooling and chomping on everything (and we have had a few nights of waking up crying and bruises and bite marks).  I think we are in for some more teeth, probably multiple.
  • When I go in to his room after a nap or in the morning he snuggles his head on my neck, tucks his little arms in, and starts bending his knees like he is bouncing.  It is one of my favorite things he does.
  • He is very curious and wants to open every cabinet, look under all the furniture, and stares at people in public.  Most people think its cute and wave or talk to him- so far.
  • He loves the park, swinging, and most of all dogs.  He has a very special shriek for the dogs.  Maybe it is his way of barking, I'm not really sure.
  • He still eats almost all kinds of food.  If Grammy gives it to him he will definitely eat it. He has the cutest little belly to prove he is a good eater.  When he is really full he sticks it all the way out and sometimes lifts up his shirt.
  • He can push the wand and end of the vacuum around the floor forever.  He gets mad at me sometimes when I am really vacuuming because he wants it.
  • Stairs (and things he knows he shouldn't do) are his favorite.  If we forget to put the gate on the stairs he crawls as fast as he can to the first step or two and then turns around and waits with his half little grin for you to catch up.  As soon as you get close he charges up.  When you grab him he laughs like crazy.  He usually waits for you on most naughty things to make sure you know he is doing it.  Little stinker!
  • He sings when he eats and goes to sleep.  When we go upstairs to rock and read his books he puts his head on my shoulder and we read the book.  Then he flips around and lays his head on my other shoulder and starts his sleepy song.  Some nights I just want to rock him forever.
There are about a million more things about him and I could go on forever.  He is usually the sweetest guy and has a big smile when he sees you.  He waves bye and over the weekend he was going with me but Grammy was holding him and he kept telling me bye.  I guess he wasn't done being spoiled.

We had 2 birthday parties for the big boy and here are some pictures from each.  Grandma D offered up her house for the first one and we had lots of fun with balloons and bubbles and cousins Connor and Brooklyn.
Blowing out the candles on our big truck cake.

The banner (missing a letter) and the start of his birthday presents.  Once again we travelled home with a full suburban.

His truck cake my mom made.  She used to make my birthday cakes growing up too. :)

My mom and I spent hours on these cookies.  About half of them broke in transport.

Checking out some bubbles with Unca B

Action shot of Connor chasing bubbles.  It seems like he did this for hours.

Sweet Brooklyn checking out all the balloons on the ceiling.

And finally from our first party.  NOT eating our birthday cake.  He really didn't want anything to do with this piece of cake. It was really good, I'm not sure why he looks so disgusted.  It could be because he had completely missed his afternoon nap and was running on fumes.  He was pretty well behaved considering.

On Sunday Grandpa heated the pool and Cason got to go swimming for the first time.  It was a hit.  He really loves his bath time and took to the pool right away.  He even let Terry dunk his head and didn't seem afraid or bothered at all.

Terry blowing up his pink floatie (Target did not have the best selection but he is man enough to handle it) and Kevin and Owen practicing some swiming skills.

Swimming back and forth between Daddy and Brian

Playing with Grandpa after a big day of swimming.

The cake Amy made just for Cason to smash.  Once again he practically cried after blowing out the candles.  He tasted it tonight and practically bit my finger off trying to get some more.

He decided that cake isn't so bad after all. :)

Happy Birthday Cason Robert Williams.  We love you!!
